I will remember Brett's big laugh. His is certainly a life lost too soon. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

We were shocked and saddened by Brett's sudden passing. Much too young as he had much more life to enjoy. Having known Brett for so many years, we want to express some of the fun times we had with him. Our family knows there was nothing like a good competitive game of golf to get Brett playing well. Lots of laughs on and off the golf course. Ben and Tate were always fascinated with his projects, such as his single traveling golf club vision. On my trips to California and our visits at the beach, my time with Brett was first thing in the morning over coffee. Never could figure out how he could drink that much coffee in the morning. We would be remiss if we didn't mention his love for cars as it was a never ending source of pleasure for him. Through the years, in my calls with my sister Donna, she often shared many of his funny antics as well as his passion for their dogs Woody and Sydney. Unfortunately, life has a way of happening with no rhyme or reason - may he rest in peace.
Love,
Laurie, Mike, Ben, Tate, and Abby

Brett and I met in college at Northeastern University in 1977. We took engineering courses together, lived in the same dormitory and soon after meeting we became best friends. He was always fun to hang out with, play pool in the dorm, study together, party together, get in trouble together. We were always close throughout college and after, when we lived in the same apartment and enjoyed doing things with our other friends from college.

Brett was the best man at my wedding and I was his. He and Donna lived in San Jose, California after they were married, and Karen, I and Alex moved out to that area a few years later, where we continued to have fun times together.

Brett always liked researching his toys and gadgets, both small and large, from flashlights to stereos, bikes, golf clubs, cars or boats. He was always excited to find the one that met his high standards and had the best performance. I remember him saying “Whoever has the most toys wins.”

He always had a positive attitude and loved whatever we were doing. He never complained much about anything. If life dealt him a setback he would deal with it and move on.

After Karen, Alex and I moved from San Jose to San Diego we didn’t see him and Donna as often. But when we got together it didn’t matter if we hadn’t seen each other in a while, we would pick up where we left off. Time and distance didn’t really matter.

About 7 months ago he decided to move down to San Diego to be closer to Karen and me and other friends in this area. We feel blessed to have had the last 7 months to reconnect with Brett and share some more fun times. He had a lot of life left to live, and he was looking forward to experiencing it. He was a great, close life-long friend and we will miss him dearly. He will always live in our hearts.

"Remembering you is easy. I do it every day. But there is an ache within my heart that will never go away." - Unknown. Brett, we spent such a huge part of our lives together with so many memories. You will always be a part of me.
